Interculturalism in a secular country

 

 

 

 

The 2nd students mobility exchange was in France from the 10th to the 16th of october.

Monday

The day started with a little speech from the french school headmistress Mrs Margez. 

Then, french students and teachers showed up their school.






After a little break, the worshop about the leaflets sarted and each students partner presented their work.


 


To close this first morning, the coordonator of the project Konstantinos Lamprou said few words to congratulaing students for their works.


After lunch, the french teacher Carole Contant presented a seminar about the Ways of Saint James.

Then, we visited the city of Brive la Gaillarde.


 







Tuesday

The day started by a speech by Frère David, a Franciscan Monk. He explained the story about the Sanctuary and St Anthony of Padoue who lived in this place, the symbol of the Franciscan Community and their missions. Then, he presented us the Caves where St Anthony saw the Holy Virgin.






After that, we went to Aubazine to walk along the Monks Canal. This Canal was built by the Cistercian monks to bring the water to the Abbey.



 

Then we went to the Calvery where we took the picnic.

In the Afternoon, we visited the Cistercian Abbey. Soeur Christophora presented the story of the Abbey, its  architecture and she told us the living of monks. We learnt that Coco Chanel lived here when she was young. She was orphan and the Abbey was an orphanage in the last century. The stained glass windows and the rammed earth would inspired her for is parfum Number 5.


 Wedneday 

We went to Rocamadour, a famous pilgrimage place. After a little walk on the Cross road, we ate in a restaurant before visiting the town.


Thursday

Students and teachers went to Bordeaux to discover a scularism city and a famous pilgrimage place. We visited the Cathedral and, after a lunch, we made a guided tour of the city.

Friday

We started by a workshop about Laïcité in France presented by Carine Delnaud


Then, each students group presented the religious art in their country.

 

To close this week, we had the traditionnal planting fruit trees and the goodbye ceremony.
